On February 16 in California, representatives of Ocean Marketing USA had a meeting with Doctor - Lawyer Derrick Nguyen Hoang Dung to learn about legal consulting for Vietnamese businesses in the US.
Lawyer Derrick Nguyen Hoang Dung graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English from UCLA in 1987 and was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree from USC University in 1991. He has more than 30 years of experience and is a consultant to many businesses. large career and held many positions in associations and non-profit organizations.
In 2004, Lawyer Derrick Nguyen Hoang Dung was appointed by President George W. Bush to the Presidential Advisory Committee on issues related to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
He served as President of the Vietnamese American Bar Association in Southern California, Advisor to the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce in Orange County, as well as many International Programs of Universities in the state of California.
He is also affiliated with national organizations that aim to advance communities, especially the next generation of youth, on key public issues, such as the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ACE), Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), International Leadership Federation (ILF) and Pacific Trade and Cultural Alliance (PTCA).
In 2005, he was elected by The Orange County Register as one of the "30 Vietnamese Americans to Watch". In 2010, he was voted Business Person of the Year by the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce in Orange County.
In 2013, he received the Leadership Award from the International Leadership Association. In 2014, he was nominated for the Orange County Business Journal's Chief Legal Officer Award. In 2017, he received the Inspire Award from the Association of Asian American Professionals of Southern California. He has also been honored many times by the US Congress, the California Legislature, local governments and municipalities as well as many other community organizations.
During his 3 years as a presidential advisor, lawyer Dung advised and transferred a lot of important information about the Vietnamese and Asian communities to the US government, and also provided a lot of information about US policies. The government aims to encourage and support the businesses of minority communities. The characteristics of businesses in the Vietnamese community are that most are small and medium sized (SME).
In his role as a Member of the Presidential Advisory Board, lawyer Dung encouraged the establishment of trade support organizations, the establishment of associations, the establishment of trade information networks in the community, providing businesses in the community and information about funds to support SME businesses and minority businesses.
Lawyer Dung was also Chairman of the Committee to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After three years of working as a consultant, Mr. Dung's greatest achievement was probably the expansion of relationships, both in the world of politicians and businessmen, both in the United States and internationally. Mr. Dung is probably one of the very few young Vietnamese-Americans who had the opportunity to interact with all three former presidents, Mr. G. W. Bush (Father), G. W. Bush (Son) and Mr. Bill Clinton.
